Itachi Uchiha was a member of the Anbu from the famous Uchiwa clan of the village of Konoha. He killed all the members of his clan in what would later be known as the Uchiwa clan massacre and deserted his village, becoming a ninja deserter (Nukenin) of Rank S and a member of the Akatsuki who became partners with Kisame Hoshigaki.
